RBMA lecture with Masters At Work

Their name says it all - Masters At Work. 'Little' Louie Vega and Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez celebrate 20 years together, channeling dance music down new paths with their inventive production style and imaginative feel for different musical forms. The two native New Yorkers have amassed an overwhelming body of work including hundreds of original productions and defiantly mix everything they can find - house, hip hop, funk, disco, Latin, African and jazz - into a universal groove. XLR8R's Shawn Reynaldo sits down with them on the couch during Red Bull Music Academy's 'New York City to SF Bay' lecture series in San Francisco to discuss the start of their careers and dissolving the barriers between genres. (Via Red Bull)

Aphex Twin - Unreleased Ambient Works 1985-2012 was uploaded on Mixcloud 1 week and 6 days ago, according to the stats on the file in question. Taking the usual rapidfire spread of information on the internet into consideration, it all seems rather questionable that this hasn't yet been all over the place. Check pt.1 & pt.2 and judge for yourself.

Ital - Hive Mind out February 13

Ital - Hive Mind coming soon on Planet Mu
Daniel Martin-McCormick is a Washington DC raised bloke who has worked on his own and in different combos such as Mi Ami on Thrill Jockey and Black Eyes for Dischord Records.
After a string of releases on 100% Silk, Not Not Fun and obviously Planet Mu, he finally releases an album on the latter.
As one might expect, given the various and musical widespread works and constellations, Mccormick's vision is a mixed bag of various inputs. Kicking off with the estranged Boogie/Juke cross-pollinator 'Doesn't Matter', which stretches, yanks and expands over 7 minutes and even features an over the top sample from Whitney Houston's 'I will always love You'. As this occurs only once it's digestible and adds a neat twist to it all. Next comes 'Privacy Settings' which is a whole different ballgame with sombre atmosphere, random clonks and fretting sounds climaxing with the addition of a flock of howling wolves?
'First Wave' turns your head upside down again with a popping cowbell, lush and chopped disco strings indefinitely looped and backed up by rattling percussion. On the fourth cut 'Israel' tempos are exchanged and slowed down in favor of saturated scapes and complexity, dazzling table tennis sounds, jingling bells with tonal shifts only to descend into a drop of rich synth modulation.
The album is rounded off by the 80's-tinged goodness of and aptly titled 'Floridian Void' - the episode of 'Miami Vice', which never aired, so stay tuned for next season of Ital's adventures.
