Thomas Knak, Jesper Skaaning and Anders Remmer will be releasing their new album entitled "B" on October 4'th. The longplayer clearly draws on recent inspirations from the new school of LA producers, as well as crossing the Atlantic to greet the Dubstep sound but at the same times incorporates their trademark electronic Dub signature which made them a household name within Danish electronic music.

Scuba in a Three Sided Shape
It's now time to swap positions and Scuba gets to open the split EP on Hotflush whereas Will Saul and Mike Monday rounds it off.
Scuba returns to his current style of Berlin orientated Dubstep with sporadic elements of clicks and glitches without going all yawnsome on us.
Driven forth by insisting snares and firmly placed vocal samples 'Three Sided Shape' surely does justice to itself and to all of us on the dancefloor.
The remix of 'Latch' is obviously very well put together with a lot of interesting details but doesn't really gets under my skin. This might require a few listens to appreciate fully and must be experienced in the right environment too.

Jeremy Duffy returns with a two-track 12" on Saigon Recordings, hot in the heels of Orphan 101's release earlier this year.
'Know You' is centered around a heavy, filtered piano stab and an almost wailing vocal sample. The metallic percussion introduced halfway
through drives the track even further and makes this an explosive combination. 'No lies' is more reluctant and cannot surpass the
momentum of 'Know You'

Jobody - Same Same
Jobody comes with a 5-tracker which includes a remix from Truss. The opener appears to be minimal by numbers at first but gradually
transforms into a bottom-heavy techno track with Inner City chords and different accentuation of the kick. The remix from Truss comes out as a more no-frills business but even though succeeds in capturing the essence of the original.
'8008' is not really my ballgame but things gets more interesting again on 'Aspect 3' with chinking hi-hats
and dangling elements on top.
The last track is strictly ambient business with a dash of noise that many times before has been performed far better.

Peverelist & Hyetal join forces on Punch Drunk
Another solid offering on the Punch Drunk label, this time with a split EP from Peverelist and Hyetal.
Both goes very deep but in different ways. 'The Hum' might appear the most immediate and danceable with a UK Funky beat structure engulfed in washing synths.
'RRRR' on the flip operates with a more syncopated rhythm pattern, 8-bit triol madness and dark pads.
Surely another winner from Punch Drunk which will be released October 18'th

Gentle Giant remixed
Tiga has selected Martyn, Efdemin and Matthew Johnson to remix and rework his album track 'Gentle Giant' from his album released last year. Matthew Johnson quite frankly had better days on remix duties whereas Efdemin delivers a decent but forgettable deep house remix. Martyn's Heaven remix is the one to go for here and comes up with a technoid Future Garage effort which is comprised by heavy snares, slick synth flavours and majestic strings.

The London based record store with inhouse label also, presents their latest installment which offers remixes from Four Tet and T. Williams. 'African Drug' comes in 3 mixes alongside the original from Bob Holroyd.The first mix from Four Tet is also the winner here with a storming, percussive foundation which builds up and intensifies over 11 minutes. It contains that certain vibe similar to Rene Et Gaston's classic "L'eveil" The original mix is lead by percussion and vocal chants only, thankfully without going all ethnic on us and could be a useful tool to break things down a little during a set. The two mixes from T. Williams are alright but can't stand up against the excellent Four Tet workout. Released on Phonica September 27'th

Much has happened since Mike Monday started his career and this release is definitely headed in the right direction. The original of 'Sequence' is not for me but it will do very well in clubs. 'Small Moments' could possibly fit in a deep set alongside Keith Worthy and Patric Scott material with it's weird samples and piano droppings from time to time. However, the big track on this release is the technoid belter that is Scuba's remix of 'Sequence". Mid-90's rave chords and sexy shuffles paired with odd strings will ensure hysteria for the masses. Model 500 resurfaces on R&S
It has been 11 years since the last Model 500 album was released on the label, so it's only fitting that Detroit Techno godfather Juan Atkins returns to his roots with the assistance of Underground Resistance head Mike Banks. In all honesty it has been quite a while since both Juan and UR/Mad Mike respectively have done something vaguely interesting when you take both legends vast and most impressive production into consideration. After a string of disappointing releases coming from UR on their label it's good to see something that appears finished and with effort put into the music. 'Huesca' is a nice piece of melodic Detroit Techno and in some ways similar to the mighty 'Sonic Sunset' double twelve. 'OFI' nods towards 'No UFO's' with Juan talking about Object Flying - Identified. I certainly hope that this is a sign of raising the bar just a little and the return to some great music making.

Detroit Grand Pubahs - Madd Circus released September 27th
More than a decade after the daft and dynamic duo from Detroit conquered the world with their humorous and witty approach to the backbone of Detroit Techno, P-Funk and Electro, they return with the full-length "Madd Circus". Where "Funk All Y'All" featured all of the aforementioned greatness in a wild and unconventional synthesis, it's now time for a more mixed experience. I can't help but to notice the inspiration and take onmore contemporary sources such as electro-house and dubstep which are not exactly to my likings. However, the fun and sleaze is fortunately popping up from time to time, partcularly on the Barry White-inspired "Breakfast In Bed", James Brown on the "Mashed Potato", the silly "I Don't Mind", a possible Cybertron hommage in the shape of "Autotragik" or the upbeat car manufacturer 313-electro of "Clone Mobile". "Madd Circus" is not way off but there are surely some pieces on it that could have been replaced by other and better contenders to embellish the album.

Lifecycle brings an odd mixture of breaks, electro and broken beats. Icebreaker just does exactly that - getting the party started although is not right up my alley. Things changes on Acid Reflux which can be described as furious Garage Beats meeting a flood of synths thrown in for good measure. This isn't a bad thing at all when you also get the broken beat-leaden Chatter next as well as the happy vibes on Stimulate and Condo Fever. Rapidly transforming into the furiously paced Lust Catalytic and just as quickly breaking down into the slowjam business of Self Destruction. Hood upcoming album and interview.
Robert Hood returns with a new album on M-Plant which is a homage to the old Omega Man movie as well as being a very personal reflection. Kicking off with the spoken word intro of "Alpha (The Beginning), the gentle ambience of "The Plague" then entering fields of 4/4 with the tinkles of "Towns That Disappeared completely" and the jagged swing of "Think Fast". Then there's the Monobox resembling electric grooves of "Think Fast" and slow rocking stings of "The Workers of Iniquity" Standouts are "Are You God?" which immediately penetrates deep into the innerself and the mandoline jangling of "War in the Streets" Rounded off properly through the immense "The Wheels of Escape" and the mighty "Omega" from the predecessing 12". It may not be so immediate and require more listens compared to previous albums from Robert Hood but it will undoubtedly get you in the end.

After a lot of well-received singles on labels such as Einmaleins, Lomidhigh Lmtd and Lomidhigh Organic as Gurtz and his new alias Gonzales, Argentinean Gonzalo Urtizberea goes all the way with his distinctive sound on "Del Cielo Cosmico". In May 2009 he released his first ep under the new alias Gonzales – La Boca EP and a month later his track LUCKY was the opening track on the Organic City Compilation.

Hard Wax celebrates twenty years existence on Saturday, 5.12.2009, starting 20:00 at WMF on three floors.
The lineup represents different facets of the Hard Wax spectrum and
consists mostly of staff as well as closely associated labels.
Hard Wax, opened by Mark Ernestus in the back end of Kreuzberg SO 36
shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, was for years the only shop
in Berlin to specialize in House and Techno. Particularly with direct
imports from Chicago, Detroit, New York and London, Hard Wax laid
foundations for the development of electronic club music in Berlin and
Germany. Not to rest on its merits, the shop always continued to pursue
the cutting edge, seeking out new interesting niches within and outside
of electronic club music.

Due to an error at the pressing plant, B1217X (the coloured vinyl edition of B1217) will come in two colours not one.
The original GREEN vinyl copies were pressed in error and contain a
label with the catalogue number as "B1217" not "B1217X", also the wrong
barcode and the year 2007 not 2008. Unfortunately this mistake was not
spotted until after shipping, so they were repressed with the correct
label (catalogue number, barcode and dated as 2008) but in RED vinyl.

Underworld is to release new album in October. The album will be titled Oblivion With Bells and will be preceded by a rather grand European summer tour. Jeff Mills opens Gamma Player Shop in Chicago
Mills will open his own fashion store in downtown Chicago with his long time partner and Axis record head Yoko Uozumi on March 15'th. They recently started a project called the Gamma Player Shop, as an expansion of what creative abilities they have, offering a selection of special international fashion brands, with an emphasis on Europe and Japan. Now It Should Be...
The more than long-awaited remixes of Convextion "Miranda" should be out in the next couple of days. We've heard the final results and here's what it's about. There's the original, a remix from Psykofuk that uses the same vaguely distorted kickdrum from Paperclip People's "Throw" and have a more clubby approach, a Deepchord remix from Rod Modell with an underwater atmosphere and finally Echospace rounds off a solid package with a 12 minute journey which should easily blend with Maurizio's "M 6".
